4The Makronóm.Mandiner conducted an extensive interview with Barta Attila, owner-manager of Florin Zrt., on the period of the pandemic. The chemical company of grave importance built up a new production facility in just 6 weeks, the flacons were delivered by an automotive plastic producer company, furthermore Florin still maintained the main aim that its products should be available for everyone.
In 2020, under the Magyar Multi Program, the company gained a 716 billion HUF sponsorship. Within the framework of the investment, in addition to a new production facility, mixer tanks and three filing lines were purchased.
„The effects of the pandemic could already be seen in January as people were buying more and more hand sanitizers. By the beginning of March we were not able to satisfy the needs, we answered 300-400 phone calls a day. It was essential to lay down priorities.”
After recruiting, third and Saturday shifts were put into effect along with the revision of the plans of the new production hall in order for the whole plant to be suitable for sanitizer production.
„In just 6 weeks we built up a factory from scratch, at the same time we faced packaging material supply problems. We had to find new partners, switch from pumps to push-pull caps.”
During the pandemic situation the company could have sold their disinfectants abroad for multiples of their market value, but Florin did not even take this into consideration. In the course of the 99 day lockdown, 4 billion sanitizers were sold in affordable price, meaning almost every household possessed one item at least.
„The main goal is to extend capacity to a measure we are able to satisfy all the needs for sanitizers, yet not to forget about the development of our own brands.”
